Crown Lane Primary School

Home Learning

At Crown Lane, we are slightly changing the way we do our home learning.  The aim of our home learning is to support the children in their learning at school by learning and practising English and Maths key facts at home.

The children can also use the Crown Lane Superpowers to support them:

  1. Curiosity
  2. Collaboration
  3. Critical thinking
  4. Risk taking
  5. Resilience
  6. Reflectiveness

Maths

Children will be given home learning based on their learning in school that week.  This will be a way of consolidating what they have learnt.

In addition to this, it is important that children practise their times tables at home regularly.  There are some websites they can use to help:

https://www.timestables.co.uk/

https://ttrockstars.com/

https://www.mathsisfun.com/tables.html

English

Children will continue to take Reading books home, with the opportunity to change them weekly (some of the children on higher levels and longer books may need to borrow them for longer).  Children will also have different spellings to learn.  They will have 5 spellings (for Years 1-3) or 10 spellings (for Years 4-6) to learn each week, which they will then be tested on at school and given opportunities to apply in their writing.  These spellings will come from the statutory spelling lists for their year group.

Please ask your child's class teacher if you have any questions about the home learning.
